I am pleased to report that in the coming months, further developments are coming to Windrush Place.

Adventure Play Area on Windrush Place:
Over the last two months, I have been involved in initial meetings with staff at West Oxfordshire District Council about the proposed Adventure Play Area on the space between Windrush Place and Deer Park Road.
I want this to be a play area that can be used by all young people. This needs to be something different to the offering at Kilkenny in Carterton, but something engaging and accessible for all young people.
Initial discussions have included whether the overhead cables should be buried (which will use some of the allocated budget....) and what type of play area we would like to see.
I want to host an initial engagement meeting in the summer with residents so that we can have a brainstorm for what equipment/what type of play area we want.
Centenary Way Surfacing - Coming in May?
Works may be commencing very soon on Centenary Way...

Last week I spoke to one of the senior workmen on site, and they say that they have raised the iron works because work is due to begin on the road re-surfacing soon.
The initial road surfacing will be from the Downs Road Roundabout to the junction with Winfield Drive so a fair chunk! The rest of Centenary Way is due to be completed once the works on the estate are complete towards the end of this year/early next year.
Crossings on Deer Park Road - Plans are due to be Released Soon
I want to thank you all again for your patience and support in my campaign to get the two crossings planned and built later this year. Without our perseverance, these crossings could have easily been ignored.

In a few weeks time, Oxfordshire County Council will launch the official consultation for two crossings on the Deer Park Road. One located on Deer Park Road by the bridleway (above) and another near the roundabout on the Curbridge Road.
Assuming these plans are what we imagine they are to be, I was told at the last Witney Traffic Advisory Meeting, that construction will commence in the late summer, ready for. the Autumn/Winter.
Oxfordshire County Council Elections on Thursday 1st May - Vote THOMAS ASHBY
It has been a pleasure to be your Town Councillor since 2019 and District Councillor since 2023. Together, we are seeing progress made on the estate, and the surrounding area; but there's more to do.
If you vote for me on Thursday and I am elected to Oxfordshire County Council, I will lead the charge for the County Council to adopt the roads, lamp posts and paths on the estate ASAP. This will be difficult, I will have to fight, as I have fought for you before - on some estates, it has taken over 8 years for the roads to be adopted - we have waited too long already on this estate, and I have the drive, motivation and local knowledge to keep at it.
I love our area and we are nearly there. This time next year, Sainsbury's will be open, our sports pitches will be being played on and our young people will be able to walk to school safely with two new crossings at either end of the estate.
Therefore, it would be an honour if you could back me again and vote for me on Thursday 1st May.
