By Thomas Ashby:
For years I have been campaigning with residents and putting the pressure onto the County Council to make sure that the Deer Park Road is made safer. That's why i am so pleased to see that construction on two road crossings will commence later this year.

Crossing 1 will be located near the roundabout connecting the Deer Park Road, Curbridge Road & Thorney Leys Road. For years, people have had to take their lives into their own hands by crossing at this junction, with more often than not, people needing to sprint to cross the road.
Once this crossing is built, it will mean that parents will have more confidence to allow their children to walk/cycle to school on their own. Not only this, but it will make walking into Witney a much safer and more pleasant experience for everyone.
Crossing 2 will be located at the bridleway on the Deer Park Road. Last year, I managed to get Oxfordshire County Council to install a temporary surface on the bridleway, making it more pleasant and accessible for people to use. However, we are still missing the much needed light crossing. This crossing will mean that again, more people will feel connected, and walking to school/into town will become much more pleasant and safer for everyone in the community.
The bridleway is due to receive improvements to the surface, as well as the bridleway being lit, meaning that people, especially women and girls, can feel safer when walking in the dark mornings or evenings.
We've waiting a long time for this bridleway, so I thank you for your patience and for supporting me in my campaign to get these ever so important crossings planned and delivered.
There will be consultations for the proposed schemes which will be launched in May, so as soon as these are available, I will share these with you for comment.
A vote for Thomas Ashby is a vote for a truly local champion at the County Council Elections on 1st May, so please do back me. Together, we will get even more done!
