After over a year of inaction, Oxfordshire County Council have now launched their public engagement activities over the future of Witney High Street.

This is a really important opportunity for YOU to have YOUR SAY about what you would like to see £1.9million allocated from the UK Government spent on our High Street.

There are two in-person public engagement events happening over the course of September:

  • 9th September, 10:00-16:00, Methodist Church, Witney

  • 19th September, 16:00-20:00, Corn Exchange, Witney

We need to create a more inviting space whilst ensuring that buses can still travel through the High Street. This allows passengers to witness some of the great shops we have in town, so that they can come back and do some shopping at a later date.

I have spoken previously to people who travel from; Henley, Cirencester, Stow-on-the-Wold and Stratford to shop in our town. So, these engagement activities aren't just for us in Witney, they are for everyone.

I know a lot of people are sceptical of this engagement, as the County Council do have a track record of ignoring a majority of people in consultations, but I believe strongly in this one. We need to be led from the bottom-up, not top-down designers who don't live or have any interest in our wonderful market town.

Please do attend the exhibitions in town and take a look at the link below which will take you directly to the Council engagement portal where YOU can have YOUR SAY:
